Lyric checker
Paste your lyrics and see each line's syllables, each section's rhyme scheme, and the words an AI music generator is likely to mispronounce, such as numbers, acronyms and names. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere.

What does it check?
- Syllables in every sung line, and the lines that run past the number you set: the ones a singer would have to rush.
- The rhyme scheme of each section, as letters such as ABAB, slant rhymes included.
- Words a generator may mispronounce: numbers, acronyms, words with no vowel, names in the middle of a line, and long, unusual words.
These are the checks APMonster's lyric writer, LyrAssist, runs on your lyrics as you edit them.
How accurate is it?
Syllables are counted by rule, so an unusual word can be off by one, and rhymes are matched by sound. Section tags like [Chorus] and lines in (parentheses) are directions rather than sung words, so they are not counted.
Frequently asked questions
Does the checker send my lyrics anywhere?
No. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you type is sent, stored or logged.
How many syllables should a line have?
There is no single answer: it depends on the tempo and the melody. Set the number you are aiming for, and the checker marks the lines that run past it.
How do I stop a generator mispronouncing a word?
Respell it the way it should sound, such as "nineteen eighty-nine" for 1989. In APMonster, LyrAssist can suggest spellings and apply one everywhere the word is sung.
